Boathouse - Traverse City

The food was excellent. We enjoyed the carpaccio, mushroom soup, halibut, and steak. However, I was quite disappointed with the service, especially for a restaurant with such high ratings. We had to request bread and a second glass of wine, and there was a long wait for someone to clear our first course dishes. Our server was handling everything on their own; I noticed someone serving water, but it seemed like there was no one to assist with clearing tables. If they were understaffed, it would have been helpful if they had mentioned that and apologized—we would have understood. It felt as though we were always waiting for service rather than having it offered to us proactively. Unfortunately, given that it was our 20th anniversary dinner, the experience fell short of our expectations.

We’re not locals, but we usually visit Traverse City once or twice each summer. Every time, we make an effort to dine at The Boathouse Restaurant. Reservations are a must, but it’s absolutely worth it. The atmosphere on the peninsula is fantastic, and the small marina provides a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the scenery.

Always amazing! We make the trip from southeast Michigan just to dine at the Boathouse! The food is consistently excellent, the service is outstanding, and the location, with its beautiful view of the harbor, is unbeatable. It's one of our top five restaurants in the country.

Boat house is in a lovely location with great scenery and sitting areas. The fish wasn’t the best, but the steak was amazing. Customer service was one of the worst I have ever experienced. We waited for 2 hours for our meal, we were not served and were the last in the restaurant. For a restaurant wheee the food is so expensive you think they would try harder to make sure you are served

Such a wonderful place, fantastic food, perfect service and what a view!!
