Great place in the centre to enjoy an excellent pizza. Very good and friendly service . We were there without knowing what to expect but we loved it. The roasted potatoes were a dream as antipasto , baked in a wood oven I would not expect better. The pizza crust was thin and crispy and the ingredients were all fresh. For dessert I would suggest the panna cotta.
Although Peri Peri is part of the Railway station there are no trains in the evening and food is served in the lovely courtyard at the back. 5 minutes walk from the Old Town. Friendly and attentive staff , great pizzas, relaxed atmosphere. Popular with locals looking for a sociable evening out. Excellent beer on tap alla spina , open until quite late (still serving at midnight).
If an experience in a restaurant is indifferent I don't see the point in reviewing it. For starters mediocre restaurants are too common. Restaurants that don't play fair with their customers are a different matter. We went to Peri Peri to order two take-out pizzas and were told they were out of stracchino for my choice so would I accept mozzarella di bufala as a substitute? No problem. While we were waiting an extended family of 12 Brits arrived looking for a table and a confused conversation took place. None to be had, according to the staff. This was at 8 in the evening and the place was 80% empty. But there was a party of 20 due at 9, according to mine host. Which would leave about 70 unfilled seats, assuming the Brits hadn't finished by then. Since neither side seemed to understand the other and were at an impasse I tried to act as interpreter and eventually got the maitre d', very reluctantly, to agree to seat the party. For whatever reason it seemed Peri Peri didn't want their business. After that we picked up our pizzas and took them back to the hotel. It was only then that I found I'd been charged an extra euro for the substitution they'd asked me to make. Not a big deal but tacky. Perhaps they don't want my business either. My pizza was OK, nothing special. My wife's was very so-so. There are many better alternatives in Trapani.
