Capitol Regent Chinese Restaurant

Our first time in Townsville & we had a great time visiting this beautiful city. Had a meal at Capitol Regent Restaurant & enjoyed a fabulously delicious meal. The food is absolutely lovely, delicious & very filling....place is cosy as well. Meals are in generous portions...we had fried rice, chicken chopsuey/Regent Special, schizuan beef /plum sauce & fish bites, chips & lemon wedges...reasonable price too. Staff are very attentive, super efficient, friendly & knowledgeable. Hubby asked what sort of great beer that they can recommend....and she (the host) suggested a beer named "Buddha" which hubby liked that he asked for another bottle. Great service all & all. We had such a lovely lunch here today. We always visit when we are in Townsville. The food was wonderful but was surpassed by the wonderfull attentive service we received. Thank you to our beautiful waitress, although she was so much more than that. A tremendous asset to this business.

Greeted by a very friendly waiter, who throughout the night remained exactly like that with a fun personality. This can be said about the lady of the house, also. The remainder staff were also very friendly.One fault, I believe, is that you don't get a choice of (red) wine by the glass. That said, thankfully the only one available is a very nice one. But I find it odd not to have a choice. There's certainly a large choice available to buy by the bottle.The food - chicken & corn soup & spring rolls were ordered on our table as entrees. No fault there. I can't remember the exact name but a seafood combination & Mongolian lamb ordered for mains. My only fault, we both completely forgot to order rice with our mains. And, our waiter too, forgot to ask if we wanted it. So that was quite disappointing. Staff were run off their feet & so we didn't feel we would ask for it, after realising once the mains were out. That said, the mains were delicious & very filling. We both didn't finish our mains, so with rice, we would have had no hope of getting close to finishing them. It just would have been a good accompaniment.

Had lunch here with business colleagues and we ordered a half dozen dishes with rice and drinks. The food was of a very high standard with I have found every time I have been there, and would recommend this restaurant for business or family events.

The Capitol Regent cooks a wide range of Cantonese meals. Compared to a number of other Chinese restaurants in Townsville, it offers value for money tasty meals with reasonable sized portions. I disagree with the previous reviewer who said the meals were bland - if you want spicy Malaysian style food, the closest you may find here is a Satay Beef. We had the classic boneless lemon chicken, Regent Special, Double Cook Belly Pork, Garlic King Prawns and combination Won Tons all for around $100.
