I had been eager to dine at Canoe for years, but was ultimately let down by my experience. The wild game appetizer we ordered was underwhelming and did not meet our expectations.
I stopped by for lunch the other day and it was an average experience. Canoe is listed in the Michelin guide. There is parking available in paid garages in the area...
We celebrated a milestone in my daughter's life. Overall the ambience, was stunning with unlimited views of the city and the decor and atmosphere was stellar. The presentation of the dishes was exquisite and a wonderful gastronomic experience! My daughter ordered surf and turf and I ordered Risotto. The table seats were a little unpleasant for me. I sat at a table with two chairs. A chair was facing the window so that the view could be enjoyed and the other was not. It would have been nice that both diners have the same view, which would have been arranged by changing the chairs. The one great disadvantage was our waiter. He seemed very robotic, pushy, without charm, class and timing. His suggestions were unusual for me. He didn't give us much time to perusate the menu and went on to see if we had made a decision. When we closed the menus and we wait for him to pick up our order. We had to take him to the table to order, although he was very close to our table. When I ordered an appetizer because I needed more time to think about my main course, he asked me to decide there and then about my main course. It was very balanced for me. When the bill was presented, I paid with cash and instead of my change back to me my waiter strongly suggested that I should make my mind about his tip there and then what felt uncomfortable and also intruded and repeated our conversation. I suggested giving back my change, and then I would make his tip.
The server was nice. The interior was beautiful. Not a noisy place that's good. Look. But I asked for a table near the window, but we sat in the middle. The food was TERRIBLE! tasteless dishes for a high price. Cocktails were also bad, 70% of them was ice.
