The bacon was 30 seconds away from burnt, the biscuit bottoms were extra dark and crunchy, the sausage patties were dry and crispy around the edges and there were no eggs. What made it worse was in the 45ish minutes we were there, not one employee checked the buffet?s food quantity/quality. We had to flag someone down and ask for eggs. Meanwhile we witnessed 2 other couples walk in, check the buffet then shake their heads and order off the menu. The sign out front mentioned a free mimosa but that was never offered to us. We?ve been here a few times before and it was never amazing, but the state of the restaurant today was really sad.
We came in and the restaurant was relatively empty. While waiting a table had just left. The hostess told us it would be a 30 minute wait. I questioned why the wait due to the empty restaurant and was told We are short staffed . This is completely understandable and we accepted the answer and went to leave. I was stopped because I heard the same hostess talking behind the bar where I could see her about how we were dumb for questioning her about the wait. I don 't feel comfortable eating in a restaurant where the staff will openly talk about customers, especially when they are within ears reach.
I waited about 10 minutes to be seated, even though the place wasn't very busy. I tried the breakfast buffet, but the food was cold. The grits were so tough I could have cut them with a fork, and the biscuit gravy was also disappointing. The service was slow, too! The table next to us had problems with their order; one guy ordered a steak and was told they were out of it. He settled for a hamburger steak, but it came without the onions and mushrooms he requested. Overall, it seems like there’s no management or a lack of proper management in this restaurant.
Twenty minutes later, we had to ask about our other courses. We were served a soggy plate of lettuce that had clearly been stored in the fridge, and the bisque we ordered was so salty that we couldn’t eat it, even though they acknowledged the issue before serving it. For our main dishes, we ordered filet and lobster tail. The staff then informed us that they had run out of lobster tails and would substitute them with a couple of claws. However, those weren’t even cleaned properly, and my husband’s still had shell on it. As my husband said, this will be our first and last time dining here.
I had a fantastic experience at the Friday lunch buffet last year. There was a great selection of soups, and the fried seafood was excellent. However, the white beans were brown and not appealing at all. Fast forward a year, and my experience has completely flipped! The Friday lunch buffet was disappointing this time. The shrimp and crawfish in the stews were mushy, and the crawfish stew had a muddy flavor—definitely not the Louisiana crawfish I expect. The gumbo and jambalaya also had an odd taste and were nowhere near the same quality of food. What a difference a year can make! I can’t help but wonder if they have different cooks now. I won’t be going back again. To make matters worse, they charged me extra for using a credit card! Absolutely disgusting.
