Contribuiți la feedbackOut of the two pubs in Cockwood, I definitely prefer this one, food is good, ales are well-kept and prices a decent bit cheaper than the other place. OK you 're not going to get quite the same sea view as the one next door, but when it 's dark and hammering it down with rain, that 's not an issue. Beer garden was closed due to weather, but it is very nice when it 's open. Plus the fact it has more of a traditional friendly local pub vibe, whilst still serving up good food, whereas next door feels more like it 's concentrating on food first, pub vibes second. Also I think the chef at the Ship is more open to 'dish of the day ' special menu options according to what 's good/seasonal at the markets, vs next door that doesn 't seem to change it up so much. It is, however, quite a bit smaller than the other pub so recommend ringing ahead to secure a table if you 're planning to eat.
