Minced Manila - Taytay

I was early for a meeting so I ate breakfast here and stayed for a while. I ate their famous Kare Kare yup for breakfast and I had a great time eating it. I was full the entire day and can still imagine the taste of it.haha.

When I got there, I was the only customer so I was attended to promptly. I ordered fried lumpiang ubod and fish & chips. Nice presentation for both dishes, though I found the lumpia too oily which just took the healthy out of the veggie rolls. As for the fish & chips, I would've preferred potato fries to have gone with the fish, instead of the thinly shredded sweet potato (?) crisps (think Piknik snack) I got. It also had this odd-tasting topping/condiment sprinkled all over the dish. It tasted sour and salty, and I figured it didn't exactly compliment the fish or the chips. It even seemed to have been stored for quite a long time, based on its appearance and its taste. I dunno, I didn't bother asking the staff perhaps because I was confused thd whole time. Anyways, serving size was good for two light-eating individuals. I wasn't able to finish everything so I asked for the leftovers to be packaged for takeaway. Plus points for accepting credit card payments. Maybe I'd give this another chance in the future.

Kudos to the chef owner for his version of crispy kare-kare. Presentation alone is mouth watering. The alamang/ aligue fried rice complements the kare-kare without overpowering the entree. Will definitely come back!

We loved the sisig, pinsec frito, laing. And enjoyed the suman dessert immensely. ???????????????? The beef kare kare had good sauce but the meat was not tender enough for us. We will definitely come back to try the humba and crispy dinuguan.

Breakfast was great! They were served right off the grill. Dried fish platter was a stand out, spanish sardines, pork tocino were both fine, although the lucban longganisa was I think far from the usual taste of lucban longganisa that we've tasted before :D . Staff were courteous. They were considerate enough to inform us that each order is accompanied already with a drink (which we were not aware of in the first place) . Place was clean and very homey.Definitely will come back for another breakfast treat!
