Four families and almost a hundred years later this Tarpon Springs bakery is a local anchor. It is nestled in the interior neighborhood off of Athens just a block south of the Citgo gas station and north of the Tarpon Lawn and garden. is small but mighty offering all the old methods of delicious baking handed down from the traditions of old. They have delicious breads, delicious baklava, tiramisu etc. Their bakes are actually served in surrounding eateries on the Sponge Docks. The service was friendly and the pricing is notably fair. Their kitchen reflects the care they put into everything they bake.
Hands down this is my favorite Greek bakery in all of Tarpon Springs. The baklava is mouth-watering delicious, so moist and full of flavor!! Ditto the pinwheel baklavas. It is worth the trip for takeout alone. No excursion to Tarpon is complete without a stop at National!
Really cool bakery and the owner is super friendly. She shared the history of the bakery and even let us check out the back. Also the food is great!
Cozy place to try some delicious and authentic Greek pastries and bread. The store is clean and inviting, and the inside and area around the bakery is full of Greek conversation. The almond cookies, the baklava, and the bread are all amazing. I highly recommend National Bakery.
