Subiaco Hotel

Have been a few times over the last 3 months. Sadly, each time seems to be progressively worse. Tonight's meal was most disappointing. Although crispy on the outside, the duck confit was dry and tasteless. Accompanying mash was unimpressive and speck just tasted like cubes of gristle. My dining partner's food was even more disappointing. The pork cheek gnocchi was actually unpleasant. Flavours were so strong that she barely ate it. She ended up ordering a side plate of greens in order not to leave hungry, but these had a strong fishy taste. Very weird and again, unpleasant. Service wasn't horrendous, but they were very keen for us to leave (before 9pm!), as we were the last diners. No comment made on collection of plates about my companion's dishes that were hardly touched and there was clearly an issue. Probably should have made a complaint but after last visit's pithy resolution (involving unopened clams from a pasta dish), we couldn't be bothered. Sadly, won't be returning after tonight's continued disappointment.

Subiaco Hotel is reliably very good. Their chorizo entre' is not to be missed. Last time I went there Sunday 25 March 2017, I had whiting and it was superb. Service is very good without being silly or overdone.

Was looking forward to be going back as we hadn't been in over a year. Went into the restaurant section of the hotel and was very disappointed when the food arrived. The servings were very small for the price and was not the best food I had ever tasted. Maybe there was a reason why the restaurant was so empty when we walked in
