Simone is second to none when it comes to being the hottest with the mostest, the beer is cold and refreshing, and the food good honest old fashioned pub grub. The music ranges from decades of yesteryear which suits the pub and helps you to feel relaxed and at home. A true gem and treasure of a place.
Returned after our last visit in October. My only regret is we left it too long. Well worth the drive from Torquay. A proper and totally unspoilt country pub, deep in the glorious Devon countryside. Small and cosy with two log fires, real ales and delicious food of generous portions. To take a paint brush to it would be legalised vandalism. The faggots again today from a local butcher with mash and lashings of onion gravy and veg. A rare gem of a pub!
Featured in the Good Pub Guide and Devon Live. A glorious rustic pub deep in the glorious Devon countryside. Totally unspoilt and that's the beauty of it. Gravity real ales. Absolutely delicious pub grub which is locally sourced. Doggy friendly. Log fires. Not for the uninitiated. Not for the pretentious. Stay away Tim Martin. A proper locals' freehouse. Outside men's privie where it should be. Thankyou welcoming Simone. Keep going my lovely and keep the predators away. Dear all locals, support this gem on your doorstep.
A fantastic country pub serving fantastic proper food, great location and simone who is a fantastic host.
A gem of a pub. This is the total opposite of a Wetherspoons and if that's what you expect of a pub you are probably best staying away. Friendly landlord and landlady, original features and great sandwiches. The Jail Ale is recommended. Lovely to sit out in the garden without a load of screaming kids or people talking loudly on mobile phones. Lovely cat as well but under no circumstances try and stroke his tummy no matter how much he invites you to! I believe they do a lot of evening events but for me the peace and tranquility of a lunchtime half and a sandwich cannot be beaten.
