Biagio's Osteria - Stratford

Date night with wife. Interior is welcoming, nice ambiance, cozy feeling, nice patio area. Staff was very pleasant and attentive, our water glasses were never more than half empty and we were constantly checked on. Food was underwhelming. Barely any meat in lobster bisque. Sea bass seemed fried and heavy with oil, almost mushy. Disappointed as we were expecting better. Friday night prime dinner time and the place was basically empty, maybe this was why.

There was a power outage tonight. We ate by candle light and were told that we had to order quickly before the propane in the kitchen ran out. I feel that we should have received a discount for this inconvenience!

Simply put Biagio’s Osterstock is excellent! We have dined here several times over a number of years as we visit or pass through the Stratford CT area and it remains a favorite of ours. Their menu has a very nice selection appetizers and entrees and the evening’s specials were both creative and delicious. We selected Lamb Oso’buco and Wild Boar Oso’buco for our entrees both were very tender and delicious. The night we dined here, the Stratford/Shelton area had been impacted by a strong storm and had lost power. The restaurant was able to adapt and managed to provide dinner service without missing a beat. Kudos to Biagio’s entire team! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Very good menu and specials. Hard to choose. Extensive wine list too

I have been here many times before but I haven’t been in a couple of years and the restaurant has certainly changed. It was dirty and the service and food were horrible. My husband had a special shrimp dish with pineapple that actually had a large piece of the skin of the pineapple in the bottom of the dish. I will not go back!!
