Pizza Express Southend-on-sea

Had amazing dinner here with my family it's a lovely restaurant to dine with family and friends I would recommend.

I have dined in pizza express many times but not in thus particular one. Unfortunately we had to leave after 1 hour as our food had still not arrived and the kids had become hangry. Asked waiter many times but many excuses. Told waiter we needed to leave and go elsewhere and his answer was let me get your bill. Charming. Strange thing was they had plenty of staff, 4 chefs and plenty of waiting staff and the restaurant was only half full so no idea why it was taking so long. Maybe give this one a miss.

Avoid like the plague! We ordered takeaway . Chef cannot even cook pizza !! Burnt offering , took 2 hours to deliver … cold. Supposed to be half pepperoni, half garlic prawn… this was what we got… 4 uncooked prawns rolling around in the box. Never used Deliveroo before, never will again! We ended up driving up there and getting our money back after the chef became argumentative and not even an apology. We showed him the burnt pizza and the 4 raw prawns he had thrown into the box. He was so aggressive to my husband in front of the in house diners and female manager had to tell him more than once to calm down and get back to his station.

Was excited for a nice dinner with my husband and two children but was really disappointed! Waitresses were really miserable. Food mediocre. Prices on the high side. Drinks luke warm. All in all a real disappointment.

To celebrate our daughter’s birthday we went to pizza express, southend. We have been several times over the years but although the food was mostly ok, the bill was astronomical!! We went there, in particular, because of the ability to pay our bills individually. We all logged into the app, tried to use our ‘gifts’ and put in our meals. Then (after we had eaten and queried the fact that none of us could access that facility) we were told that because there was 15 in our party it cannot be used!! We tried and tried to sort out our individual families meal cost but we’re unable to make any sense of it. All I know is at over £400 is an awful lot for a pizza and mainly soft drinks! In the end we paid the bill but it spoilt the evening for us all! Maybe we’ll try another restaurant for our next get together. Shame.
