Friendly welcome on a very busy evening, same night as the L'Estivales (fun wine and local food promotions evening).Service was good considering the amount of people there.Three course menu for €22 or €25. I had the foie gras apple crumble for starters, but it was very dry and needed more foie gras or less baking. Followed by the duck brochettes, very tasty and lastly the tarte or citron revisited. This was a tasty crumb soaked base with lemon sauce (as in lemon meringue pie) topped cream and meringue crumbled in it, very sweet and very nice! My husband had the steak, which he said was good and finished with the café gourmand for a couple of extra euros. I half wished I'd had that too it looked so nice (a selections of little desserts with an espresso coffee in the middle). There was a lively scene in the market square where the estivales were taking place, a good evening ambience.Slightly marred for our two daughters who had a family of children playing behind them (not part of the restaurant). The restaurant is located on a street slightly off the main square, but in full view of it. It's an attractive setting by the old auction stone. The kitchen and (very clean) toilet facilities are based opposite the serving plaza.Parking is limited on such an event because of the volume of people there (estivales). It's a pleasant and safe walk into the town re' traffic, bollarded walking sections.Probably OK for people with mobility difficulties if in a wheelchair because it's mostly flat but some of the streets were cobbled.
We booked two weeks before as we were meeting some friends there. The day before we ate, the owner rang us to confirm our table would be ready and we could arrive when we wanted. A really nice touch. Our table was wonderfully set, the waiters (food and the wine) were really excellent and knowledgeable, the food was magnificent and the wine topped off a very memorable experience.Thank you to all who work there.
The chef and waiter were extremely attentive to our comfort and were always ready to help with explanations about the food, the choice of wine etc.. In fact, I don't think I've ever been in a restaurant where the waiter takes this kind of time to exchange with the customers. Really a pleasant experience. The food was delicious and beautifully served, Dessert was quite an event, as one of our party had chosen the 'mystery dessert'...all part of the fun! We were there for my 50th birthday, so a family event. We would advise booking, as it would seem that the restaurant has a quality over quantity policy. Be aware that you may have to wait for your food, especially when very different dishes are ordered; but the wait is well worth it!
