The bread they serve with the meal is safe as no one you ever had, and couples good with the flavors and style of food. The service was wonderful. My server explains what I always and traditional ways to enjoy the record. It was also familiar with ingredients and preparation. This place is fun just to taste the exotic food.
Although the waiting staff can be more attentive, they were friendly and very accommodating once they were informed. The food was authentic, fresh and affordable per DC standard. I sat outside, so the traffic noise was kind of loud, but it was sometimes quiet. Overall solid experience.
I enjoyed Abol Ethiopia restaurant a lot. We shared a veggie plate and kitfo (crude meat). I also had a glass of Tej (honey wine). It was all very good. The service is a little slow, so if you are in a hurry, this could not be the place for you. I would recommend it.
The best Ethiopian restaurant I've heard and it comes from a genuine Ethiopian. I remember the favors and spices from home at home and the food in Abol brings me back again and again. The New Manger is really nice and welcoming, it makes everyone feel like their part of a family. The restaurant gives a homely, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel very comfortable. If I ever want Ethiopian food, I know abol will never disappoint that I have been there 4 times and loves food more and more, can not express how much I highly recommend this place if you want authentic Ethiopian cuisine. Great service by the way
This was my first time eating Ethiopian food and I loved it! We ordered two combination platters, one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian. I practically ate one whole platter myself. Be warned though, the restaurant doesn't initially give you silverware. You're supposed to eat the food just with the bread, which I am used to. But Ethiopian sourdough bread does take some getting used to. It's texture is spongy and it tastes a bit sour. But the curries are banging... spicy, colorful, and flavor that bursts out in your mouth.
