I had a sous vide entenei on hamhock and it was cooked to perfection. wonderful balance of smokey aromas with a thick and creamy egg yolk. followed was venison from a local plot with potato terrine and other vegetables. the venison was so incredible, just melted. barely chew. amazing quality. actually the best poisoning I've ever had. rhubarb fool to finish. again excellent, sharp cut through the sweet. at the end of the meal the cook came out to talk about the tasting menus he puts on and the English weeping he promotes. they cost us about 90 for two and this included wein. they have to pay for quality and it was worth every penny. I use the word exceptionally economical and it fits this place perfectly. I think that eating and the service here fits to the likes of home, bibi’s, piccolinos, all still solid favorites of me. and I would say one of the best meals I had for one. very warmly recommend a visit. we go back to your English wine and tasting menu at night. so we went back to the tasting menu. each cure was exquisitely designed to have balanced aromen and, as they can see on the photos, looked stunning. but some critiken. the portions were also small for a tasting menu. smallest we had in a certain degree. Secondly, the food server did not know what they served, which was disappointed. we wanted to get back to absolutely, because the quality was on site. Maybe a bigger lunch would eat before.
Our second visit to this hidden gem of a restaurant was just as impressive as the first. Our group of four was once again extremely pleased with the service, food, and the friendliness of the staff. When making the reservation, I was asked about any dietary restrictions, which was a pleasant surprise as most restaurants do not inquire about this. I mentioned that we needed gluten-free and vegetarian options, to which they responded without issue. Our meals were delicious, and our waiter made sure to confirm that my friends' gluten-free meals were served correctly. This was our first gathering since lockdown, so we had a lot to catch up on and ended up spending a good three hours chatting, eating, drinking, and laughing. We never felt rushed, even after the kitchen closed and we were the only customers left. Thank you for a five-star experience - we will definitely be returning!
So great to find a resto in the area that focuses on fresh, locally grown and produced food cooked to the highest standards. I had Coley that was done with a nice burnt skin with a lovely moist texture — perfectly cooked. The wine selection was varied with lots of good reds and whites by the glass, unusually so. Definitely will return. A local gem.
Nice food but service let it down. We arrived early hoping to sit at bar area which they said was OK but felt rushed to sit at table which was right next to the toilet, strange when only one other table in venue being used. Food arrived and was far from cooked medium as described on menu which was fine for me, as I can eat rare steak (see photo) but my partner asked for his veal more well done as was very pink and was made uncomfortable for asking by 2 different waitresses, one of which challenged his request from the chef and the other saying the chef may refuse entirely! In the end food was nice though, once cooked to my partners taste (which was still pink after recooking) On asking for the bill the waitress assumed my partner was paying and asked for payment before he had even looked at the bill, then assumed it was a card payment as returned with card machine minutes later making us feel rushed to leave even though we had drinks still. She then stood watching him input details and asked if he wanted to leave a tip making him feel quite awkward. Most restaurants, certainly of this calibre, should know it is polite to turn away and not hover when putting in details into machine. It did top up my partners annoyance that as we were leaving 2 new tables were seated in much nicer positions, spaced well apart, and certainly not right night to the facilities. Safe to say we probably wont be back, but not from fault of the food particularly which was very tasty, although meat very rare which is fine if you like it that way.
Absolutely incredible. The best food I have ever had! I could eat a whole tank of the lobster bisque.
