We were sitting inside as it was already colder and dark but also the outisde area looked very good. We were surprised by the good pizza we had, service was excellent and we would certainly come back! Recommendable.
Anything you try at this place is going to be a disapointment. Seems it is already famous for being awfull.
It might have been because it was New Year 's Eve but service at Gula was obviously already painfully slow when we arrived. Around us diners with empty plates in front of them looked quite exasperated as dishes came out of the kitchen at a snail 's pace. I could have forgiven them for the slowness given the time of year, even for a 'fast ' food joint. But when our 4 cheese pizza turned up after more than and hour 's wait it looked like a smallish garlic bread with a few cheese slices plonked on it. We were furious and I took it straight back to the cook, pointing out it wasn 't a pizza. The cook argued otherwise. Look at the photo and decide for yourself. I don 't know if they 'd forgotten us and had cobbled something together quickly as I 'd seen other pizzas being served and they at least looked like pizzas. It had taken so long we had to either eat it or go hungry, so we ate it. As cheesy garlic bread goes it would have been quite good. But to be passed off as a 4 cheese pizza, one of the most expensive pizzas on the menu, it was a disgrace. Our gastronomic experiences in Setubal have been excellent, but this one was shocking.
This is one of the few gems in Setubal. It's a small but great pizzería just off the main road in Setubal near the port. It serves fish, meat, and vegetaruasn pizzas as well as other meals. It serves soft drinks, wine, and beer. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. This is very clearly a family-run business and that is reflected in the great service. The pizzas are lovely and they were exactly what we wanted and what we needed. If you're staying in Setubal, I would recommend eating in Pizzaria Gula.
Very good Pizza experience, right next to the Port and Bar quarter.
