Contribuiți la feedbackAs soon as we mentioned that we have celiac disease, our server quickly arranged for the owner to come speak with us. The owner assured us that most of the menu could be made gluten-free, as they have a dedicated fryer and gluten-free bread available. She also mentioned that they have many celiac customers who frequent the restaurant. It was evident that she was knowledgeable about the necessary precautions to take in the kitchen. The food was delicious diner-style fare – I had an omelette, home fries, and gluten-free toast, while my daughter, who also has celiac disease, enjoyed blueberry pancakes. Highly recommended.
The initial server was unsure about gluten, but the owner stepped in to help. It seemed like the server was new, as there were hiring signs and a request to be kind to those who showed up. The owner guided us through the menu, initially mentioning that only the lunch menu was gluten free. However, she later informed us that the peameal, pancakes, and toast were gluten free options. Unfortunately, the hollandaise sauce was not gluten free that day due to supply shortages, so I ordered the "breakfast nachos" Benny over fries without the hollandaise. The portion size was huge, so come hungry or share with a friend. We ended up returning multiple times that week and found that their breakfast options were the best in town. They also had gluten free pancakes, grilled cheese, and the "Mads Muffin" on a gluten free bun. The staff took great care of us throughout the week.
I contacted the Diner the day before and they provided me with information on how they cater to those with Celiac disease, including a list of gluten-free items. When I arrived, I informed the server that two of us had Celiac and they guided us through the menu. My daughter ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and I had the blueberry pancakes. The portions were generous and the quality was outstanding. They have a dedicated grill for cooking the pancakes and a separate area for preparing gluten-free food.
They now offer many gluten-free options; there is a celiac member in the owner's family, they are very knowledgeable about the difference between sensitivity and celiac. They have a seperate fryer for gluten-free, and are careful about cross-contamination.
As soon as we mentioned that we were celiac, our server sent the owner to talk to us. She explained that most of the menu could be made gluten-free (they have a special frit, bread, etc.) and that they have a number of regular celiac customers. It was clear that she knew what precautions had to be taken in her kitchen. Food is classic Diner Fare I had an Omelette, domestic frits and Gf Toast, while my (celiac) daughter had blueberries pancakes. Recommended.
