Garofalo's - Scarborough

The service is slow and often unfriendly. The food's ok, nothing special. I visited primarily for breakfast and the eggs are often overdone. I don't eat muffins, but I've heard comments they are good. The most revealing aspect is the total unfriendliness of the owner. She frowns nearly all the time and makes guests feel unwelcome. Head somewhere else for your meals if you’re visiting Higgins Beach!

In 2005, I wrote a review noting that the owner was unfriendly and often had a frown on her face. I also didn't rate the dinner options very highly, although I did mention that breakfast was quite good. This year, I returned to Garofalo's a couple of times for both dinner and breakfast, and I've found it either significantly improved or that I may have overlooked something back in 2005. The owner has been very friendly, and the dinner options are quite impressive. I'm particularly a fan of their spicy Italian dishes.

A fantastic restaurant! The owners are friendly and attentive, and the young waitstaff are well-trained. The food is excellent and generously portioned, but be cautious as some dishes can be quite spicy! This is a lovely inn in Maine.

This place is amazing—it's now my new favorite! I'm thrilled to have discovered such a great restaurant in Scarborough. I’m not sure what the previous review mentioned about a frown; the staff was very friendly and welcoming to us. Definitely go for dinner; the food is outstanding!
