Tubby's Seafood River St. - Savannah

Tubby's is awesome and it's located right on River Street! Delicious seafood, perfectly made drinks and an awesome staff! I would say that Tubby's was definitely of the highlights on our trip to Savannah. Oh and they give a you a $1 shot when a barge passes by the restaurant!! How cool is that!?! I highly recommend you give them a try!

The main dishes were ok. Crab cakes were over fried and mushy on inside. The best dish seemed to be the salad. Recommend the peach sangrias My friend recommended the crab soup, but it was cold and tasted like a cup of flavorless roux with a huge bay leaf. Crab cakes deep fried with no chunks of crab. The green bean side dish is flavorful with lots of butter and extra garlic. Not appetizing to some. Hush puppies were chewy. View is nice over Savannah river. Service was good.

The crab soup was absolutely PHENOMENAL. Close to the best I’ve ever had in my life, honestly. I would give this place 5 stars if it weren’t for the service. The waitress was slow and forgot about us multiple times, forgetting to bring people some of our dishes and never refilling our drinks (not even once). So, a few of our group had their food for about half an hour while a couple of us didn’t have food — so we had to sit and there and wait to remind her while everyone ate in the meantime. If they’d improve the service, this place would be a lot better. It’s a cute atmosphere and right along the strip on the Savannah River. And again, the food was definitely good. Loved the peach sangria as well.

I loved the view or the river. I loved my waiter (handsome shaved head man with glasses), he was great and attentive. But the crab cake dinner was absolutely horrible. I’m a crab cake connoisseur, so I know good crab cakes. These were horrible. And I mean horrible. I paid for my meal because I’m not like that but it was bad y’all. Do not recommend the crab cakes at all. Never had crab cakes that even looked like this before. Down bad you hear me. He asked if I wanted a to go box and the answer was noooooo.

We were recommended to this place by the concierge @Marriott river front in Savannah shame on you Marriott.. To sum it up… it’s an over glorified Long John’s silvers. Plastic cups Plastic forks Condiments in plastic containers Cardboard serving trays School cafeteria plates Wretched Low rent. Not what we meant when we asked for seafood The crab stew was sent back… too mealy fillers Oysters only come fried… surprise surprise The waitress has to wash and reuse my wine glass as the bartender wanted to use plastic cups Greasy Marginal food Sticky table I should post pics of the nasty bathroom My husband warned me, but we had a long walk back to the hotel… I should have waited
