Contribuiți la feedbackI moved here recently from Baltimore, which has a very large Caribbean diaspora. I was very spoiled, but this is the closest I have found to the delicious, authentic Jamaican food I am used to. Not to mention, it’s like half the price in Savannah! Huge portion for $12 — two jerk chicken breasts, and a ton of cabbage, and rice and peas. The woman even gave me extra jerk sauce without me having to ask! They also have tiny containers of yummy hot sauce that you can grab. Everyone was friendly and awesome. Just an overall great experience. Thank you sweet and spice for existing! *Something I forgot to mention — one of the chicken breasts was perfectly moist, while the other was dry and chewy. That’s on me though. It’s always a risk when you order chicken breast anywhere. There’s a reason why in Jamaica they only use thighs.
We drove 30 minutes from our hotel to thus place and was rewarded with good food. The friendly chef and his suggestions convinced us to buy meals when we went for snacks.
Based on some of these reviews, we must have gone on a good day because the food was very good. It was seasoned well, although I 'm not 100% sure what part of the cow was used to fill out the oxtails. We eat oxtails everywhere we go and these were cooked and seasoned well. The curry goat, beef ribs, and beef stew were good. Customer service wasn 't bad but it wasn 't great either. I WOULD eat here again.
About 7 years ago in Washington state, was the last time I 've had the warm, comforting flavors of Jamaican food. I did not grow up eating it, but there is still something about it that just grabs you by your tastebuds and your heart and tells you that everything will be okay...at least while you 're eating it, lol. We had the jerk chicken, which to be honest was just a bit too salty, but still enjoyable and paired perfectly with the rice and peas and the roti. We also had the curry goat and plantains; both were incredible. Another dish we had was the ackee and salt fish. This was a first for me, so I can 't say how good it was by comparison to other places, but I can tell you it had a great taste. It reminded me of really well seasoned cod and scrambled eggs. That may not sound like an appealing combination to everyone, but it works and I definitely added it to my will buy again mental list. We also had the coco bread (another first) and the spicy beef patties (which I would 've liked to be spicier), both of which were good. The pinapple ginger and the Sorrel drinks were very fresh, both having that nice bite from the fresh ginger. All in all, you ladies at sweet spice are doing a great job and I wish you all the best. The only thing as warm and welcoming as your food, was your hospitality. Thank you.
The chicken (curry and jerk) is amazing! The green beans are boring... no butter no salt no pepper....nothing but water logged. Service was great, the lady was very friendly
