He had to move his flugelhorn horn for us to sit down. The room is way too small for that live music. Because I am allergic to vegetable oil, I asked the waitress if I could get schnitzel. “No.” Just no. Not I’ll talk to the chef and see what I could have. So, among other things, I ordered potato pancakes, easily pan fried in butter. Dinner arrived and, surprise. Deep fried potato pancakes. No restaurant should make that kind of mistake. That can be life threatening. Then came the mandatory singing, enforced by the very energized owner’s trying to whip up the group. Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, we were treated to Alpine bells and the flugelhorn horn, right up close and personal. What a miserable evening, and expensive, too.
It is the second time we visited this little restaurant. This time we went with friends. This place is an experience. The owner, Heidi is full of personality and very welcoming. The day we were there they had a problem with the air conditioner and all the staff went out of their way to make up for it. As I said, this is a tiny place so you definitely should make a reservation. The decor is very Eastern European and when we were there there was entertainment, a gentleman playing an accordion. Now the best part, the food. I had a Wiener schnitzel with jager sauce. It was fried perfectly. All the schnitzels allow you to choose the sauce of your liking with 2 sides. I chose spatzel with Apple sauce. I finished my meal with an apple strudel. Yum! They have an extensive beer selection and wine. Lots of fun and good food!
The friendly staff and delicious German cuisine make for an authentic dining experience. All of their recommendations were perfect. Definitely worth a visit for a great time!
First and foremost, I was craving German food for our 43rd anniversary, and my husband and I wanted to try somewhere new for the occasion. I stumbled upon a restaurant that piqued my interest, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! Upon being seated in the back room, we were transported to a nostalgic setting reminiscent of days gone by. Having spent some time in Germany myself and my husband having worked at a now-defunct German restaurant in Key Largo, we had a keen eye for authentic cuisine. Our server, Jenifer, was exceptional in her attentiveness and ensured our glasses were always filled with delicious beers. The food, prepared by the owner and cook Heidi, was absolutely superb! My husband couldn't stop raving about the amazing meal we enjoyed on January 26, 2023. The atmosphere was delightful, with people around us engaged in lively conversations and genuine enjoyment of the moment. It was a refreshing sight to see people truly present and engaged without being glued to their phones. Our 43rd anniversary celebration at this restaurant was made all the more special by Heidi's warm hospitality as both hostess and cook. The exceptional food served here is a testament to her culinary skills. For those who find fault in this place, I can only assume they enjoy complaining wherever they go. I highly recommend giving this place a try, especially when the snowbirds have flown back home.
This charming little restaurant left us amazed and excited for our next visit. We met friends from out of town for dinner and the food and service were exceptional. We started with potato pancakes, pretzel beer cheese, and kinder sausages. My wife particularly loved the pancakes. The sausage came with a delicious mustard. For our main courses, we ordered Wiener Schnitzel, Schnitzel von Schwein, Rouladen, and Goulash, accompanied by Spätzle, Potato Dumpling, Red Cabbage, and Cucumber Salad. Everything was delicious. For dessert, we enjoyed the ApfelStrudel and the Windpuff, which were amazing. Chef Heidi and her wonderful staff were fantastic. Visiting this restaurant will make you feel like you're in Germany, and it doesn't get more authentic in Southwest Florida. Thank you...Cheers!
