Not only has Saranac held onto its local business community since I was a teen; this hotel is an incredible experience to return to after day hikes or wandering around in mountain weather. The second floor Great Hall Bar made the trip. Big enough that it never felt crowded, cozy enough to want to stay for hours, I can imagine holing up here in a snowstorm and just... waiting it out! We left already planning next year's trip.
The suites are in a separate building accesses by walking thru the garage. At first glance the room was nice but has a multitude of functional faults. There was a large dining room with table and six chairs and a counter with another three chairs. To support that, there is a kitchenette with a tiny fridge and the smallest microwave imaginable no silverware, no paper towels, no hand towels, no plates nothing but a coffee maker with two cups. All of the lighting was incredibly dim even the bath. The bedroom didn't have a wastebasket. The bathroom was tiny in comparison to all the other rooms and had a shower with only a single pane of glass covering only half normal showering soaked the floor. The designer of this functional nightmare should be locked in it for a week.Staff was pleasant and when asked brought towels, silverware and such.3 stars for the room, 5 for staff, so a generous 4 average.
Comfortable and clean room. Beautiful hotel with restaurant and bar on separate floors. I enjoyed my stay.
My family of six recently stayed at Hotel Saranac for two nights on our annual, pre-Christmas trip to Lake Placid area. We rented one of the suites at Hotel Saranac. It was clean, very spacious and newly renovated. We were greeted by a friendly, helpful attendant in the lobby. The bar and restaurant had a nice, classy atmosphere and the food was good, however more expensive than average. The hotel is located in the center of Saranac Lake Village, in a very convenient location. We would absolutely recommend and will stay here again.Rooms: New, clean, comfortable beds and atmosphere.Nearby activities: Not much to do in November. Village was nice, but kind of run down with many vacant store fronts.Safety: Very safe and quiet community.Walkability: Easy walk to everything.Food drinks: Food was very good, but above average in cost.Noteworthy details: Good location and very nice hotel.
This is a complicated review nice hotel for sure. the hotel is a throwback to the 1920s and looks great. staff was super.depending on your desired vacation you may love this hotel or not I generally like a laid back stay early breakfast, casual feel this wasn't that. but still a very nice hotel.I prefer the relaxed atmosphere of the Hampton Inn hotels in the Hilton family....but that's just me. This is a perfect choice for a couple get away.the negatives everything, including the restaurants, open a bit late for me. Also if you're staying when there is a wedding, that can be bothersome as it was for me and my wife totally out of control party on the 2nd floor with the noise making it all the way up to the 5th floor.so I gave it a 5 star rating as it is a nice hotel with great staff they're the 5 stars. but if you're looking for a relaxed stay like you would have in a Hampton this won't work for you.I didn't like Saranac Lake as a town Lake Placid is much nicer if you are torn on where to stay.
