Gerard's Paella Catering - Santa Rosa

Pros: Delicious paella, excellent service Cons: Limited menu

We had the pleasure of eating Paella von Gerards at various events that they looked after. The food is delicious. We come to celebrate with reasons so that we can order paella to warm up at home. The protions are very generous. My family for 4 can share a family-sized meal (with seconds) and I still have some remaining remains. We order with extra sausage and Calamari. Take out comes cold so that you can store it in your refrigerator until your ready to eat, but the reheating in your oven is super easy. My new favorite meal is the ink bar.

I'm torn between giving this place a 4 and a 5. The paella was fantastic! However, the service left a bit to be desired; it felt somewhat inattentive. While the food arrived in a timely manner, they forgot important items like utensils and water, which made things a bit awkward. That said, the flavors of the food were excellent. We ordered the Papas bravas (which are potatoes served with a generous amount of aioli), as well as the "el pescador" and "rose" paellas. There were so many delicious flavors to enjoy! I only wish I had more room, as two paellas were quite a bit for just three people!

The dining area features a cozy terrace facing 4th Street, which is nice, but it could benefit from some background music (the speakers were a bit rough, so I'm sure that will be addressed soon). As for the food and drinks: the sangria was delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day. The spicy “gangry sauce” on the Papas bravas was tasty, although I personally would have preferred it to be a bit spicier. Some of the larger potato pieces could have been cooked a tad longer. The calamari came with crispy, flavorful bread, although the squid inside was a little on the chewy side. The paella lived up to expectations; next time, I will definitely add extra meat for just $4. While you can order individual servings, I recommend sharing it, especially when enjoying the tapas or pintxos. Plus, I appreciated the sustainability effort of using paper products instead of plastic! Overall, the ambiance, location, food, and drinks are impressive. With just a few minor adjustments (understandable since it was their first week), Gerard's Paella is sure to become a favorite for both food enthusiasts and casual diners alike in Santa Rosa.
