Hummus Express - Santa Monica

I visited this restaurant for a quick lunch during my trip to LA, and I found it to be quite decent. We ordered a couple of shawarmas and the hummus plate. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes. The shawarmas were well-seasoned, and the beef one had a good amount of oil, which enhanced the flavor. The chicken shawarma was a bit drier, but it wasn't too much of an issue. The hummus plate was also quite substantial and definitely filling. I would recommend sharing one portion between two people.

I recently returned to Hummus Express for the first time in a while because my friend wanted to dine there. I asked the cashier whether he recommended the chicken breast or the Shawarma, and he suggested the Shawarma with Laffa and their various fillings. I decided to go with his recommendation, but I was quite disappointed. The dish contained at least 75% fillers and less than 25% chicken, making it difficult to even taste the chicken itself.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is incredibly fresh and delicious. As a vegetarian, I opted for the falafel, hummus, Israeli salad, eggplant dish, pita, and Laffa. I do wish they offered more vegetarian options and were a bit more generous with the portion sizes, especially considering the prices are on the higher side for such a casual setting. Overall, it’s a great experience. The service could be quicker and more efficient, but the staff is friendly.

I have passed by this place so many times in the past and not once did I decide to eat there. It was a nice day out and they have a cool little seating area outside so I decided to eat in. My little guy wanted a breath of fresh air. Haha. I walked in all confused on what to order but the cashier never once offered guidance. I asked the questions and all I got was 1 word answers. : . If you hate your life and can 't even smile then don 't go to work or leave your unhappy life behind. I asked about the happy hour menu to which she replied not today because it 's Friday ok fine. I asked about the kofta pita and she said $15. Huh. The menu said $10. She is obviously not paying attention to what I 'm saying and is rushing me even though there isn 't anyone behind me. She didn 't even tell me that I can customize The ingredients in my pita but instead pointed to a little paper on the register saying that these are the items that come in the pita and if that was OK. To which I replied I guess. I took my baby and went to sit in the patio area. she gave me a ticket with my order number on it and then a man came out and delivered it. The pita was actually big but it was super dry on the inside and the hummus didn 't help. No I didn 't like it at all and I don 't think I would give this place another chance.

We were walking around looking for an open restaurant when we found this gem. Very hospitable place to eat, considering that they were about to close. We were greeted by Junior, knowing that this was our first time eating here, with no recommendation, no foresight of how our experience was going to be. With all first time experiences it can be scary at first, but with Junior, we felt welcomed. He made the whole first time experience warm and friendly. Definitely recommend for their great food, excellent costumer service, and friendly atmosphere. We tried the hummus with pine nuts and pita and I was expecting it to be meeeehhhh cause they were about to close. But reality exceeded my expectations! The chicken shawarma was amazing as well. It was perfect. The only critique i had was that i wasn 't properly built. But the taste was amazing. #worthit
