West End Tap And Kitchen - Santa Cruz

Seemed pretty bustling today. Cool atmosphere, huge dining area. I got the fried chicken kimchi sandwich. I was incredibly excited but somewhat let down. The chicken didn’t even taste that crispy, more soggy than anything and the kimchi overpowers literally every other possible taste you could glean from the sando. I would have appreciated a sweet sauce to balance the sourness of the kimchi. And parking here sucks. You drive all the way to a dead end with absolutely no signage warning you beforehand. Fries are fantastic, tho. They redeemed the meal.

Nice pub like atmosphere with better than average bar food and good selection. Duck fat popcorn is good.

We had an excellent server, which was the best thing about it, along with the wine. I love that the tired warehouses in this side of town have developed, making this a fun area to visit, but the 4 of us were pretty disappointed with our recent dinner. We got the roasted carrots and gnocchi, both of which were incredibly greasy. Another dish was oversalted and my flatbread fell pretty flat. I love supporting local businesses but West End isn't keeping up with the good food at its East End cousin. Shucks.

Great service! Menu was limited, and I would like to have a better lunch selection, salads sandwiches. Although the food we had was very good.

The roasted carrots with spiced walnuts and whipped citrus cream were sooo good! The flatbread was good for sharing, but honestly, I'd stick with the smaller plates instead. I did not try the kimchi fried chicken sandwich, but it looked quite delicious.
