The food is decent, though not exceptional. The takeout beer selection is impressive as well, and the prices are among the best I've encountered in Northern California. Lupulo is a must-visit every time I'm in Santa Cruz. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner
I really enjoyed my time at this restaurant. I volunteer at a place nearby, and I often stop by for a beer during my long walk home after work. The staff and patrons are incredibly friendly, creating an atmosphere that somewhat resembles the familiar vibe of Cheers—though it's not identical. I opted for dine-in service, and my overall experience was excellent. The price range was very reasonable, around $1–10 per person. I would rate the service and atmosphere both at a solid 5!
I have to be honest: Lupulo is quite possibly my favorite beer spot in all of Santa Cruz. Do I drink beer that frequently? Absolutely not. But does this spot have way more than just beer that makes it a charmer for happy hour, date night, and a quick bite? You bet. Owned by the folks who own/operate the immaculate Copal just under a mile away, Lupulo has it all: a quality beer and cider selection, fridges of drinks to take home, non alcoholic options, and great food. I typically go for the tried and true options: a classic veggie empanada with a non alc kombucha. If I'd like a little more, the ciders are terrific, and the rizada salad kale, beets, aged cheddar, almonds and dark lemon vinaigrette fills you right up. Don't skip out on any aspect of this spot. All for lower prices than average, and in a great location downtown. Vegetarian options: How can you say no to a veggie empanada? They are AMAZING. Truly the best! Kid friendliness: Lots of great options for kids too, in terms of food and non alc options.
I loved this place, the bartender was such a sweetheart. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Stopped in for lunch and a brew after visiting Henry Cowell state park. We had seen this place come up in searches of where to go but then it came recommended from a local bartender at a different bar and we figured we should check it out. The food was delicious!! The beers were great, the bartender seemed to know every other person who came in and was very friendly to everyone. My husband got the carnitas torta and I got the avocado torta. Both were so good. We also got a chicken and a veggie empanada and they, too, were so tasty. The gaucsalsa with the veggie empanada was so fresh and yummy. This place is also one of the largest distributors or sellers (can’t quite remember) of underberg haha random and fun fact but when you walk in you’ll know what I mean. It’s apparently very popular here so if you like underberg you can get it here.
