We make a point of eating here whenever we come to Santa Monica. It is consistently good.

Easily could have been a 5 star experience. Amazing food and great service. However, I cannot in the life of me understand who put the most arrogant and unpleasant person as the host. No greetings to begin and he barely even looked up. And the very few words he did speak made us feel like we were an inconvenience to him. Definitely recommend the oxtail dumplings and the lamb.

Food was absolutely phenomenal and the service was even better. We had a total of 3 people throughout the night come check up on us just to talk about the food and have conversation! Found this place visiting from NJ it did not disappoint. The Chicken liver and duck was unmatched!!

I had heard many great things about Tar Roses, and I’m glad to say that it definitely lived up to the hype. Getting reservations proved to be challenging, but it was well worth the wait. I made an 8pm reservation for a Thursday night, and we only waited 5-10 mins for our table. We sat in the back where they have an almost open air dining room that’s a little more quiet and less hectic than the front space. Unique dishes and flavors to boot, and all the flavors were full, rich, and complex. We ordered about 6 dishes and they were all winners. Loved the dumplings especially. For sure I will be back.
