We were very disappointed with dinner here. With this price point (150 per person), we expect food quality to be much higher. Meat and lobster were both super hard to chew and the appetizer was also tasteless.
If we had lunch today at Courtyard, our waiter was a nice guy who knew his business, the courtyard is not really the best place for the restaurant, loads of hotel guests on foot, staff walking etc., feels like a drop-in and drop-off point, menu?. Nothing special really, foot brunch was OKish, but I had better, I miss some genuine California dishes!!! Lots of possibilities here! Overall look is a bit dated, again the courtyard may not be the best area to have the brunch, overall very expensive for what you get. Food is not the best
Shutters is a very special hotel in Santa Monica. It is one of the few luxury hotel experiences by the sea and its restaurants have incredible views. That's why you're not going to eat so much... at least not at the price. I have the luxury to eat in some of the best restaurants in LA, so my bar is very high. Will you give you the view of Gänsehaut? Do you have a nice special culinary experience? Probably. Will the food blow your head? Maybe not. We had a business dinner here the other night, I have to say that I left, not so impressed. It's expensive, but the food just doesn't meet for me. What we ordered: Appetizer: Crispy Wrapped Summer Squash, Blue Crab Tartine, Grilled Blue Prawns the winner here was the yarn, the biggest loser aka might take This from the menu was the crab completely tasteless Entrees: Caesar Salad add Chicken (what I got, Roasted Half Jidori Chicken riddle me that Batman), Lobster Spaghetti I really have no words because the server simply chose something he thought to me to be better. It was good, I give him that, but definitely NOT what I wanted. Deserts: Brownie Sundae and Chocolate Soufflé eh Except the misunderstanding, the service was great. Would I come back for a celebrity meal, probably not, but for drinks, 100%!
Perfect date night. Arrived for our reservation at 6 pm to an almost empty house. Table right next to the window with an ocean view. It took a while for our waiter to come take our order, but when the food finally came, it was delicious. Our waiter was quite eccentric he was friendly and gave great recommendations but would leave quickly after checking in on us. And a few times he even came by and just dropped something off without saying anything. He's a funny guy, and we grew to love him. His recommendation for the grilled prawns appetizer was amazing. The sea urchin pasta had a nice flavor of the sea not the best uni I've had but it went well with the pasta. The halibut smelled amazing and went well with the peas and artichoke and lightly grilled onion not terribly flavorful but it grew on me and I ended up really liking it especially after adding some salt. Our waiter convinced us to order the one dessert I hadn't been considering the salted caramel sundae, and he was right that everything went very well together. Overall a wonderful evening.
