The Brown Jug - Sandwich

We got take out sandwiches that we're both unusual and delicious. The chocolate chip cookies were also yummy. This is more than a place to get take out, as they have an outdoor pizza oven and lovely, peaceful areas for sitting outside. They also sell interesting foods, wine and beer as well as other unique items.

Wonderful local food shop in Sandwich, MA. Very friendly staff. Try the Lasagna soup it's delicious.

Crazy as it sounds, Sandwich, MA is named after its sister town in Sandwich, Kent in the UK. Sandwich , meaning a market town on sandy soil suits this neighborhood perfectly. There are three sandwich shops in the area and all three are beasts, but this, in my humble opinion, is the best of the lot. And I boasted that before their pizzas took stride. Now it 's taking an almost insurmountable lead. Hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to choose, I 'd go with the ham brie. My Mrs. loves the veggie wrap, her Pappy the tuna wrap and her Mammie the beet sandwich. We 're all over the place. But for a reason. They 're all excellent. My recommendation? Get the sandwiches for lunch and the pizza for dinner. This place is highly regarded for a reason.

We were there for a cycling event a few weekends (September 23rd) ago and arrived at the shop about an hour before closing. When I say we, it was about 10 of us. It was a bit chilly in the evening and we asked to sit indoors. To our surprise, he said yes. I don't know if he is the owner, but he was fabulous. He allowed us to order and eat our pizza inside past closing! Above all the pizza is delicious; the crust is divine and the flavor combinations were top notch. The pizza dough was soft, crunchy, a little brown, and packed with flavor. If you're from this area, this should be your only spot for pizza, and if you're visiting, it's a must try.
