Layla's Bistro - San Jose

What a marvellous find! Was searching for 'Italian ' on Google and this wonderful bistro that serves some halal dishes came up! They have ribeye and cheesy Philly steaks, and some other chicken and beef dishes that use halal ingredients, as labeled in the menu. (Note, it 's partial halal menu as they do serve non-halal items as well, but the owner Ms. Layla Suarez always tries to accommodate for your dietary needs as well as recommend the best dishes suited to your preferences. Incredibly wonderful lady who personally tends to every table to make sure you 're comfortable. Today we had an early dinner (supper? so we went with the sweet potato fries, the chicken stromboli (delicious homemade Italian pastry stuffed with chicken, mushrooms, spinach, and lots of cheese , and the seafood pasta (lots of mussels! . Was surprised with the low prices because the portions were huge! Full of flavour too. Been a while since I 've had this good a pasta dish. The restaurant itself is small but the atmosphere was very cozy and had that eclectic Eurasian-Mediterranean 'at home ' feel. Definitely the place to have a romantic night out. It is also family-/child-friendly. Definitely going to come back for more, and if we 're in town during Thanksgiving we 'll be going for their (halal turkey full course meal.

Food's great, variety is great, service is good, owner is very friendly and cares for her customers. Great neighborhood Bistro! Highly recommend LAYLA's.

Great neighborhood place. Food is great. The lasagna is so cheesy and big portion. Lobster ravioli was excellent. They have a repeat customer program for a discount after visits. Décor is intimate and the people that work there are so nice. One of our very favorite places. And now pet friendly. :

I love this restaurant! Today was my 26th wedding anniversary and we enjoyed the food, the wine and great service. Layla joined us for a little chat, we enjoyed the warm hospitality. Our favorite food? The roasted romaine lettuce salad!

What a delightful place you feel like you are at an outdoor café in Italy. Fantastic food, great service and for me, about six blocks away. You can't get it better than that.
