Westerly - San Diego

Made a reservation weeks ahead for half a dozen friends for my birthday. When we arrived, there was a bigger event going on in their (lovely) patio, and they seemed to have lost our reservation. They wanted to put us inside, but I had asked for outside and had to insist. Found the house drinks poor and expensive, but the more standard cocktails were OK. We didn't eat, just a few rounds of drinks. I'd recommend for your big event, but it's not made for a small gathering. After some initial stiffness, the staff were lovely. They got cake.

Food was insanely over priced for a small portion and being just generally mediocre. Service was extremely slow and inattentive, with little to no other customers in the restaurant.

From the start, not a good experience. The sign at front says to wait to be seated. Nobody approached or said they 'd be right over. We approached the bar to say we had reservations and the guy threw a menu at us. We took a seat outside on the patio. There were only two other tables of patrons, but one was a large party. It took forever to get a drink and then food order in. Drinks came out quickly, but food took about an hour. For a burger and a pasta dish. They didn 't tell us until we got up to walk out that they 'd put the large group order in first and that we 'd have to wait. They also came by the table once prior to us getting up to say it 'd be just a few more minutes (lie! . About another 20 min later food arrived. My requested medium rare burger was more than well done. I ate it anyway because it was late and I was starving. They insisted on cooking me another....also over cooked. They did end up comping the food which is the least I would have expected, but service was terrible due to lack of communication. There were never more than 3 tables of patrons at a time and maybe 3-4 people at the bar with multiple staff walking around. It 's unfortunate because the space is cute and would be great to enjoy in warmer weather. It was also a Saturday, so shouldn 't have been an off or slow day.
