I ordered the shrimp and scallop fettucini while my wife chose one of their vegetarian dishes. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and delicious. This is a wonderful restaurant for a romantic evening with your partner!
I had heard great things about this restaurant and made a reservation through Open Table. However, when we arrived, the restaurant did not have our reservation on file. Despite this, they were able to accommodate us in the back enclosed patio, which was a bit cool. The host was not particularly welcoming and the metal chairs were uncomfortable. It took some time for us to receive service, but once we did, it improved. However, there was an issue with bringing my friend a third glass of wine when she had declined it. The food was good, but overall, the experience was not the best. I may consider dining here again if seated in the more comfortable dining room.
I made a reservation for a large group via Open Table and and received both a confirmation and and a reminder. Imagine my surprise when I showed up with a job candidate for an interview dinner only to find there was no table for us. The did ultimately work it out. The food is good and this is a great place, but don't book via Open Table since they seem to have not turned off their Open Table account your booking won't go through.
It has been a while since my husband and I visited this restaurant, but that's because we don't come to Point Loma often. I made a reservation for Restaurant Week two weeks in advance as we had plans to see a play downtown. When we arrived, I informed the three men at the front that we had a reservation for 5:45pm. We waited for about 35 minutes while they tried to find a table for us, despite there being plenty of empty tables available. My husband became impatient and moved away from the situation. The highlight of the night was the Lemon Drop martini, which was the best I've ever had. The Restaurant Week menu had a good variety, although the dessert options were limited. Unfortunately, my chicken picatta was overly salty due to the abundance of capers. The sautéed veggies were delicious, but the dish needed less salt due to the natural saltiness of capers. My husband enjoyed his La Regina dish, a seafood stew in a light tomato broth. The service was slow and inconsistent, even when the restaurant was not busy. Overall, Old Venice is a decent restaurant, but I prefer their sister restaurant, Alexander's on 30th, much more.
My wife and I came here the day before Valentine's Day and had a wonderful romantic meal with candlelight and gentle lighting. The food was amazing. I had the shrimps and Scallop Fucini and my wife had one of their vegetarian dishes. Both were perfectly prepared and delicious. This is a great romantic restaurant to take your girl!
