Gen Lai Sen Seafood - San Diego

The restaurant is located in a dilapidated building in a rather unappealing part of town, reminiscent of a hole-in-the-wall Chinese eatery. Personally, I often find that these types of places serve some of the best food. A friend’s coworker recommended this spot, and I’m happy to say the food lived up to expectations. However, the atmosphere left something to be desired. Typically, I don’t mind the surroundings when I’m really hungry, but the smell of stale urine in the restrooms made me question the cleanliness of the kitchen. While there were other patrons enjoying their meals, the unpleasant odor from the restroom stayed with me throughout my visit.
