Karl Strauss Brewing Company Sorrento Mesa

I visited this restaurant and was impressed by the beautiful scenery. The staff were attentive and friendly. It took me a little while to figure out how to use the scan to order system, but once I got the hang of it, I appreciated the convenience of being able to order whenever I wanted. The food I tried was all excellent. I sampled the brussels sprouts, pretzels, sweet potato fries, and the poke bowl, and everything was delicious. The only thing I would say is that the brussels sprouts could have used more balsamic. Overall, a great dining experience.

Food was great, atmosphere is excellent, restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Ordering is done from a website using a QR code on the table which is fine if you want no customization. But if you want a sauce on the side or something, you’re out of luck. Appetizers came without plates which we then had to wait for. Seems having a server come to the table would kick the quality of service up a notch, though the staff was all friendly and helpful. Food came quickly but no clearing or bussing or checking in occurred after the food was dropped off. It feels like fast casual at full service prices, but the food was pretty solid.

I returned here after 8 years. Before, I came for their weekend brunches, but they no longer do it. So came here as a big party of 15 with a dinner reservation on a Saturday. We were seated right away at our table that was ready even though some of our party members were running a little late. Ordering was difficult. It is being left on each person or a family member to scan the QR code to start a tab and place orders; zero interaction with a server. Some of our party had questions about some of the menu items, but it took a while to get a server to ask those questions. One of the party members was impatient and just ordered a mac n cheese, which was what they thought was the right one, but ended up being a different. Drinks other than water took a while to get. The beer they had from their line and other partners were good. They do offer smaller 4oz tasters of the draft beer if you want to try different ones. The food was okay from what most of the party said. I got to try the seasonal Asada Fries, which was spicy, but not much flavor. I ordered the Grass-fed burger, which was okay, and not a top-five burger for me. I wouldn't order a burger if I came again. Closing out the tab was done through the QR/web, again cutting out any interaction with a server. One party member kept getting errors when they went to pay their check, so they ended up going up to the bar to close the tab. From what I remember, the place and atmosphere looks like it has not changed since being here last time. It's definitely not up to the good memories of the food and atmosphere. I would probably just come back for their beer at the bar, and maybe takeaway a growler.

A great relaxing place to have a craft beer or two! Over the top food and service! As I was walking in the entrance, it reminded me of a Shang-ri-la ! The garden/water features did not disappoint!Thank you to crew at Karl Strauss for a great experience and clean restroom!I will be sure to come back!

This is mine and my husband's favorite brewery. Karl Strauss is my favorite beer of all time, my go-to's are the aurora hoppyalis and the mosaic IPA, now that I'm pregnant we come here just to indulge in their amazing food menu. Between the 2 of us we have tried almost everything on the menu at this point and have yet to have anything we didn't love. Service is always friendly, environment has always been pretty relaxed at least any time we have come by. Can't wait to come back when I can drink again!
