Catch 228 - Saint Simons Island

Exceptional. I sampled a wide variety of dishes and each one was fantastic. Whether you enjoy seafood, salads, or desserts, Catch 228 is the place to be!

The food was subpar at this restaurant. The steamed oysters were served at room temperature and the crackers were all crumbled and stale. The service was average at best, with the server seeming disinterested in taking care of us. I waited 15 minutes for my credit card to be taken for payment. To make matters worse, a different employee brought the bill. The atmosphere was clean but uninviting, lacking any charm.

I recently visited this restaurant and had a fantastic experience. As a chef myself, I rarely have the chance to dine out alone, but on Wednesday, October 18th, I was craving fresh oysters. I ordered a dozen raw oysters and fried calamari at the bar. The oysters were exceptional, professionally shucked and sourced from cold waters, with just the right amount of brine. The calamari was perfectly fried, though I felt the breading could have used more seasoning. It was served with a tasty Thai chili sauce, but I personally would have liked to see more variety in the sauce options. The owner, Brad, was behind the bar and his interaction with the guests added a personal touch to the experience. The atmosphere had a local feel, with most of the patrons seeming to know each other. I enjoyed watching the bartender, who was friendly and accommodating. The menu at this restaurant focuses on simple dishes made with fresh ingredients, which aligns with my own cooking style. Overall, I was impressed by the food and the atmosphere, and I may have just found my new favorite spot for downtime dining.

We came here for lunch, we were seated on the patio and we did wait some time for anyone to come ask for our drinks. They kept walking by but nobody stopped. Finally a waiter came and told us they were under staffed which is understandable. We ordered our drinks, we got one mixed drink that didn’t come for awhile. We reminded the waiter about our drink and they got it to us. We then place our order for the baked Parmesan Oysters and 1lb of Shrimp. I will say the food was very good. Oysters were great and the shrimp. I would come back again.
