My husband and I went to the restaurant tonight for dinner, but we were turned away. A staff member told us that the dining room was closed and they only catered. If the dining room was closed, then why were the doors open? Despite advertising as open and as a restaurant, they only cater. There were no signs posted indicating this. I have always enjoyed Concetta's, but I will not be returning and I recommend that others do not waste their time either.
First time here. The service was good but the food left a lot to be desired. The salad was alright. Not too bad but the pasta was terrible. I ordered the cannelloni and was brought manicotti. No offer to make it right. How about make it hot? I asked if they could take it to the kitchen and heat it up. She took my plate and brought it back the same temp it left. I enjoy my food hot. I had high hopes when we walked into this charming place. But come on..... offer to make my order right, don't charge me for the wrong order and just stick it in a micro so it's not room temp. Prices were wonderful but food..... not so much.
Disgusting food. Even more disgusting people working there. Avoid like the plague. I ordered the shrimp scampi, and both the shrimp and the pasta were dry and flavorless. I could only choke down a couple of bites. I didn 't complain or send it back, because I was having fun with my friends, and we were seeing a show after dinner and I didn 't want us to be late. So I went without dinner that night. I absentmindedly left my debit card at the restaurant. I didn 't notice it until the next time I went to use it, which was after the show when I stopped to get gas. It only took a few seconds to mentally retrace my steps. Unfortunately, by then the restaurant was closed. The next morning, right after the restaurant opened, I called and explained the situation to the woman who answered the phone, whose tone was annoyed. She spent about 20 seconds looking for it and said, I can 't find it. Can I look for it and call you back? so I gave her my phone number and waited. And waited. And waited. I was getting ready to go on vacation, and I was hoping to swing by the restaurant on my way out of town. After a couple of hours, I just couldn 't delay anymore, so I went to the bank and withdrew a large sum of money for vacation. I normally would never go on vacation carrying so much cash, but without my debit card I didn 't know what else to do. About four hours later, I called the restaurant again. I intentionally waited until the time of day between lunch and dinner, hoping it would be a better time when there were fewer customers in the restaurant. I got the same unfriendly woman on the phone who gave me a half hearted apology, complaining that she was busy. Then she repeated the exact exercise from that morning (pretended to look for about 20 seconds, telling me she couldn 't find it, and asking if she could call me back). She said, for the second time, that she 'd need to call the waitress who had handled our table. I thought, Great! Now we 're getting somewhere! Surely the waitress knows what happened to it, since she was the last person who had it. I thanked the woman so much for her help, and waited for a phone call that never came. The next morning, I decided to give them one more call before calling my bank. Maybe it was just that one woman who couldn 't be bothered. Surely a manager would be anxious to make things right, so I called and asked to speak to one. He said, unpleasantly and clearly not caring, Yeah, I heard about it. We can 't find it. I said I guessed I 'd have to cancel the card and thanked him for trying. Then I said it would have been nice if someone had called me back. And that 's when he completely snapped and proceeded to chew me out for expecting anyone to let me know anything! Didn 't I realize they were busy? Never mind that the woman the previous day had told me on two different occasions that she would look for it and call me right back. I was unreasonable to expect anyone to do anything at all, including what they had said they were going to do! This was my second day of having to be constantly stressed out while trying to enjoy my vacation, and now I was being yelled at for having the nerve to expect the restaurant to do anything to try and help me. He snapped at me that they hadn 't had any intention of calling me back, unless my card eventually popped up. I politely thanked him, hung up the phone, and burst into tears. What a horrible, nasty, mean spirited manager to treat a customer this way! And at no point was I anything but polite. I wasn 't even rude when I said I would have appreciated a phone call, which I think was a perfectly reasonable expectation on my part, since a phone call had been promised TWICE! And his response was to yell at me! Just a terrible human being, without a shred of kindness, and an awful experience for this former patron. So this dive gets poor marks for food quality, and even worse marks for despicable treatment of a customer, by the nastiest manager I have ever encountered.
I'd like to rave about the service first. Our server was just wonderful! She was attentive, so eager to please, and so very kind. My daughter and I had lunch here with my 18 month old granddaughter. We were chatting with our server when we were ordering from our menus and conversation got around to how picky eaters little ones can be. My daughter mentioned how obsessed the toddler is with veges especially tomatoes, which she seems to not get enough of. And to our surprise, out came a plate of little halved cherry tomatoes as an appetizer for the munchkin, and we never ordered it. It was such an unusually thoughtful gesture from our server. The food was average. We both had sides of Caesar salad and the dressing was above average and slightly sweet. The chicken Marsala was tasty with the chicken slightly overdone but not bad. The tortellini was above average but the tuna melt was average. Not bad. The house, which is the restaurant, is old, charming, typical for the region here in St Charles.
