La Madeleine - Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire

We came in need of lunch en route and expect little. we had a very good lunch in a simple but friendly hotel restaurant at a very reasonable price.

La madeleine, in the center of st. Benoit-sur-Loire, does not see all the premise from the outside; in which, for me at least, it has the view of a northern English pub. inside it is pleasant, but not particularly impressive. service was excellent. The...waitress was nice, she could have been good a yorkshire, but no, she was French, I think. the menu offers more variety then many similar restaurants and eating was really excellent. I wish they would move into our village, especially the yorkshire!

We ate on the cozy terrace in the garden of the hotel. you can choose between the full menu or a la carte. they also have a complete menu for children. a bit more expensive than the prices of the rooms would suggest, but. a whole other class also and every euro worth. all our dishes were perfect in any aspekt they would expect in a good restaurant, but still had this homemade look that added to the familiarity of the place. the children ate all fish and loved it!

La Madeleine, in the centre of St Benoit-sur-Loire, does not look at all prepossessing from the outside; in fact, to me at least, it has the look of a Northen English town pub. Inside it's pleasant but not particularly impressive. But......service was excellent. The waitress was lovely, she could well have been a Yorkshire lass - but no, she was French, I think. The menu offers more variety then many similar restaurants and the food was really excellent. I wish they would relocate to our village, especially that Yorkshire lass!
