Nanjing Salted Duck - Rowland Heights

The bbq duck and salted duck were pretty good but not the duck blood clear noodle soup.

Extra star for good service.I like the duck head and wings but not my mom. Had to admit it's a little overly salty, but fits my weird craving sometimes, so I'll come back again.Tried the vermicelli soup, dumplings, and shumai. Both dumpling and shumai are too fatty to my taste(too much lard). It's interesting using sticky rice as filling in shumai and the flavor is good, worth to try if you like a super carb-bomb. (I do Ha). Like the vermicelli soup too. The liver is too much for my taste (too gamey) but everything else tastes good. Soup is a bit too salty to my mom.The sever is always nice. Too bad the location is semi open so it's too hot during summer time, so only to-go so far. I do like they don't charge tax on frozen food which is how it should be. Will come back again.Parking: Same parking as the supermarket. Located inside of the supermarket entrance.

Price is super inflated, half duck is $23, and duck blood vermicelli is $15, most of it is vermicelli and very little duck blood, soup is bitter and a little spicy might have numbing oil, doesn't taste anything like the authentic duck blood soup. Roasted duck is crispy and juicy, very recommended.

I visited Nanjing Salted Duck without expecting to when walking through the supermarket that houses it. I wasn't in the mood for salted duck, but they had an advertisement for 50 dumplings for $22.00. That's quite a bit of dumplings, but I wanted to support their small business. I got the beef ones. I have to admit, they're definitely on the smaller end, and compared to some in the frozen foods section of any supermarket, I would say it is pretty expensive. They were quite simple and tasty in soup, but a good number of them were broken or frozen in clusters. I will admit though, that most of them run very salty. I'm not sure if I am fortunate that some are broken before putting into the soup so that it is pre-salted, or if I should be saddened by the appearance. If I get the chance to return, I'll likely get them again and give their other items a try.
