Scotty's Hot Dog Stand

Finally stopped in the famed hot dog stand a couple of weeks ago after a long hiatus. Lived in RL from May '89-Nov '02 which is when I was in out of this place along with a few other RL area favs. Not just hot dogs but their overall menu has always been awesome. Good prices, friendly service and tasty quality eats will keep you coming back to this wonder. Been living in Beach Park for nearly the last 19 years so unfortunately I usually end up some place much closer when in the mood for a Chicago grill. Been at least a couple of years since I 've been to Scotty 's, though. After biting into that dog fries automatically it brought me back in time. Gonna try to make it out here a bit more often 'cause I definitely miss this taste!

Been coming here since I was a kid. The hot dogs dont taste the same anymore. Like the meat is old or something. Maybe they're not using Vienna anymore? Idk. They just don't taste good. Definitely going downhill. Very sad.

Hi, can I get two tacos? “Oh we don’t have those any more” (even though it’s still on their menu. Okay, can I get a shrimp basket instead. “We’re out of shrimp”. Okay can I get a fish sandwich? We’re out of fish too” ... k bye.

New owners don’t know how to cook. I order fries and a gyro they fill the fryer basket so the middle fries don’t cook all the way. The gyro meat was frozen. And I was charged $15. Never again. Don’t waste your time and money. Oh and their gyro looked like a soft shell taco from taco bell

I ordered two Reubens on February 16, 2022, without rye bread. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that the sandwiches had the smallest amount of meat, just a dollop of sauce, and a small portion of sauerkraut for $18.50. I won’t be coming back. I've been a long-time customer, but I miss the old owners.
