This restaurant/café is in the middle of a small country store. The tables and chairs or expanded steel and not very comfortable. The staff is very friendly. The food was outstanding. The service was incredibly slow. The waitress did apologize for the delay, stating that there was only two of them working today and they have been extremely busy. It took 40 minutes to get our food. If you are in the area and want some good food this is a good choice. Make sure you have time to wait. If the location is not convenient for you, forgo this restaurant
I’ve been stopping by this place occasionally for many years. There isn’t much along this stretch of SR14 between SR97 and Umatilla. I’d imagine they could profit by adding gas pumps since locals probably don’t enjoy driving 30 miles west on SR14 to refuel. I’ve never really paid attention, but there might be a card-lock fueling station across the street for businesses with memberships. Those tractors really consume a lot of diesel in just a week. There used to be a ferry here that took people over to Arlington, OR, but it’s long gone now. Locals frequently used it to bring back groceries from across the river. In recent years, the population of Roosevelt has grown significantly after the town decided to build a landfill and accept trash from the Seattle area. Trains loaded with waste keep truck drivers busy hauling containers up the hill to be emptied. Before the landfill, Roosevelt was barely more than a whistle stop with a dive bar and a few now-abandoned businesses. The food here is pretty solid these days, catering to local truckers who expect a hearty meal at a fair price – and you’ll find that here. The staff is very friendly. There’s also a small park and boat launch down the road (to the south) with picnic tables and a lovely view of the river.
WOW! I didn't expect to find the best breakfast I've had in years at this place. On my way to Stonehenge, I was let down by the limited dining options along the route. I stopped to use the restroom and noticed they served food. I decided to try The Trucker, and it was incredible! The hash browns were the best I've ever had—so moist! The eggs are fresh from the farm and cooked to perfection. The coffee is excellent as well. This place is a gem. You should definitely stop by!
I was on my way home from visiting family and felt like I needed a snack, so I decided to stop here. However, I saw signs in the front window warning that I'd be "SHOT" if I entered the place. I understand they were probably joking, but I was traveling alone in an unreliable car, and the location is pretty isolated! Honestly, what was that about? It seems like business must be so good that they don't care about making customers feel welcomed.
