Trading Post Smokehouse - Rising Fawn

Stopped in on a rainy Saturday early evening. We were hungry and looking forward to some good BBQ. Placed two orders. One was the brisket plate with 2 sides. Chose BBQ beans and potato salad. Was offered a choice of sweet BBQ sauce on the side or spicy sweet BBQ sauce on the side. Second order was for brisket sandwich, no sides, same two sauce on the side choices. We both chose sweet sauce on the side. Food was hot. But the brisket was already saturated in a spicy sweet sauce and oversalted. I was so disappointed. It smelled so good. Why ruin it by drowning the brisket in sauce??? And then too much salt?? I guess they were trying to preserve it. I would not order brisket again. I ended up just enjoying my two sides. Delicious. I would order them again. Now the sandwich had the same results. Too saucy, bite of hot spice already added, too much salt in the flavor. He would not order it again. The area to eat outside is small. Not much room for a large party or several patrons. We took our orders back to our cabin for this reason. So no drink ordered. The Amish swivel chairs, rocking chairs, gliders and swings were very interesting and well made. They were comfortable to sit in and wait for the order you placed at the outside window.

Been there multiple times bc it's convenient to a job I'm doing and every time the staff is rude and act like they don't care if you eat there or not. Like it's an inconvenience for customers to actually try and eat there. Food is absolutely horrible. Got a brisket plate and it came chopped like a BBQ sandwich. The only reason to chop the brisket is if it was ruined and it was. The mac-n-cheese was more like a soup than anything. All 3 times have been horrible. I'd rather drive the extra 10 minutes to a good BBQ place.

Great little place and great BBQ and very very nice Amish made furniture outside!!

Only reason they get 4 stars on service is because they close early and aren't open on Wednesdays. Other than that, love the Amish furniture they sell and the food is great.

Open BBQ place on a Monday evening on Lookout Mtn in GA.QUIET, rural setting.Only had window service for take out.Food was good, home cooked, Southern BBQ fare with sweet tea like it should be.
