This restaurant in Richmond specializes in Sichuan/Chongqing style hotpot.
The soup base was flavorful, especially the spicy one! The staff helped us make a delicious dipping sauce which was a nice touch. We enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered, especially the pork.
A favourite for years. About time I write to let the world know of our secret. Stay away from the non-sechuan dishes. Not that they're bad, but had a few surprises of their take on some dishes. Still full of flavour. Haven't had any bad Sichuan cuisine, but my absolute favourite is the eggplant fried with garlic sauce. My friend's favourite is the fried green beans. We try to order something new each time we go, and we haven't been disappointed yet. The portions are very generous and the prices are very affordable. We always have enough to take home for dinner the next night. Yum.
Pot stickers arrived in a puddle of oil. Their wrappers were thick and rubbery. Seseme pancake appetizer was doughy and very oily. Shrimp with tofu and green beans had peas, no green beans, in a very bland sauce. Pumpkin cake with bean paste for dessert was again very oily. Service was very slow even though the restaurant was almost empty (late lunch around 3PM). I would never go back.
