Contribuiți la feedbackFood here is great! Cheaper than restaurants of course. But taste is comparable and even better than some Chinese restaurants. Though in mid-2023 they increased their price. Then I went back in August, price increased again. Then 2 weeks after that, price increased again. 2-meal combo increased from $11 to $14, 3-meal increased from $12 to $15. And my usual favourite special chowmein increased from $12 to $16. They don’t charge taxes here. Still pretty good for the price i think.
A must try!! Great place for authentic Chinese food! Also very good value! $15 comes with 3 items with rice or noodle and it also comes with soup or tea! Super large portions! More than enough to feed two. There are other stands there that sell take out boxes as well but this one is the best!! Wish you have other locations as wellParking: Located at public market. Has a parkade. If travelling by transit, this is also transit friendly too!
My friend told us about getting a two/ three-dishes rice at the Richmond Public Market, so here we are. We picked Captain Wa simply because it seemed more people buying from them. Perhaps also because it was right at where people come out from the parking lot. They also seemed to offer more dish options. The portion is very generous like what it was famous for. We chose sweet and sour pork, stir fried beef with mushroom, onion and celery (mixed vegetables), and Sou sauce chicken. The lady was so nice that she gave us a bit of extra broccoli.Overall the food tasted quite good. Sweet and sour tasted what it supposed to be. Pork was rather fatty, but not too bad. Some of them might have more fat than meat.Stir fried beef with vegetables was alright. The beef was good. The typical texture you would expect at restaurant with a tiny touch of baking soda. It is difficult to not to overcook beef at home. One of the mushrooms was very big and might could have used more time to cook. There were not many slices of beef but mainly vegetables. It ended up a good balance as we only ordered meat.Soy sauce chicken was a good surprise. It tasted as good as those from a bbq specialty shop. It was still tender and juicy. If we come again, we will definitely want to have this again. For the combo, you can choose steam rice, fried rice or noodle. We choose fried rice and it was pretty good, not greasy at all!We ordered two juice drinks, one mango and one is guava. They did not taste very good. We would recommend to order those soft drinks that you would normally drink. With a three-dishes combo and two juice drinks, it costed $22. It was totally a bargain and a treasure in the times of increasing cost of grocery and inflation.
The portion is so generous and it could easily feed two people! I didn’t take a picture of the fried squid but it was super yummy and still crispy! The Sweet and Sour Pork and Eggplant was really good too and the man packing our food was nice enough to give us a bit of veggies! This combo was only $14 and taste more authentic than your average Food Court Chinese stall at the Mall.
Service was fast and friendly, many options, and very generous portions for the price. 3 Will definitely eat here again.
