They have a number system that dispenses different numbers based on how many is in your group. I was told it's super busy on weekends. I ordered the seafood and tofu hot pot. In it was a piece if fish, piece of meat, a piece of squid, 2 prawns, an egg & Chinese veggies. I like drinking the broth afterwards. They will also add more broth if you like. Just the right amount of food for one person. You can ask for how hot you want it from mild to spicy. I asked for mild and it was still spicy for me. My friend had the Korean hot pot and it was good. A bit more spicy with the kimchee. The hot pots come with either rice or vermicelli. You can ask the server to put out the flame if the hot pot is bubbling over. A good place to go to on a cold evening. They also offer a selection of assorted bubble tea along with a ice cube type of dessert for a buck each. I haven't tried it. The restaurant is in a small plaza with free parking.
I am so busy for the last two months , girlfriend #2 love meats ,happened shes in town for a week ,we happened pass by ,and she said to me she feel like a hot pot , to me I am not mush HOT POT guy ,special the service in Chinese Restaurant ? well ,if what she want ,I go along ,as long she happy ! the restaurant do serve hot pot ,but Taiwanese style !so it is totally different them the other hot pot place ! (also I hear so many BAD BAD reviews from all my friends ! but to me ,it is good opportunity to seem it myself ! ) WOW ! the place is modern and clean ,but 99% is all young Kids , so noise ! you can not hear a word from my girl friend ! but ,funny ,the place is only half full ? the food is O.K , but the attitude from the staff ,seems they do not care ,take your order ,and see you later for the bill ! how the owner let a restaurant run like this ? how can a restaurant chain run like this ,they should try to learn some staff training from other chain restaurant in N .America or in Canada ! so ,not worth my time to write any more about this restaurant ! Save your money ! This one is my Top number one Worst Services in West Coast !
I used to love this place a lot though not anymore after having this bad bad experience. I don't even want to give a single star to them. Last Saturday, we were enjoying the meal then at the end found a PLASTIC BAG INSIDE THE POT!!!!!! Imagining it boiling and poisining the food entire time made my appetite disappear. But what pissed me off most was the reactions they took, wasn't sincere at all. They just said sorry in a small voice then first offered us an another hotpot for free, which is super stupid cuz we were obviously full, then instead they gave us an offer for a free drink and 10 percent coupon which is gonna expire in 3 months but who's gonna want to go back to a place like this... My anger reached to the boiling point as their name... I strongly don't recommend going to this place, but if you still want to try just don't forget to search inside the soup before starting to eat!
I visited the Surrey location and was told they are a restaurant chain. The inside of the restaurant is modern and clean. However, when I first walked in, the smell of the place knocked me over. It was a nasty smell! I couldn't leave because I was meeting my girlfriend there. It smelled so bad that I lost my appetite. Then my friend told me that the smell was of fermented tofu. I told her the smell reminded me of cow's manure on the farm. The smell disappeared when I got my hotpot. I ordered the mildly spicy seafood and tofu hotpot. I doubled checked to make sure it was a different tofu than the fermented one. There is a hotpot that serves the fermented tofu. In mine, there were plenty of green vegetables, 2 shrimps, a couple pieces of octopus, piece of fish and pork. You can have the choice of rice or vermicelli noodles with the meal. It was filling. We didn't have time to try their dessert which was a cube of either matcha, taro, strawberry and another choice which seems like a house specialty. I think it might be an ice cube that's flavoured. They were $1.00 each.I'm not sure if all Boiling Point restaurants have the same smell. If I go back, I'll have to hold my breath for a short time. I was told it is a popular spot for Asians. Unfortunately they don't take reservations.
It was my 2nd time back and the soup was as good as the first time. There were about 4 servers for a very busy restaurant with a line up. For the most part, the system they had going worked for them but 2 of the servers looked really mad all the time,. 1 of them shoved the reservation clipboard and slam the pen on it when I asked to be included on the wait list. My visit was on December 29 2015 at about 8PM. I noticed the rest of the customers all enjoyed their food but half of the restaurant were waving their hands up to get a server's attention. What really bothered me was from the angle of where I was sitting, I could see the cook eating over the stove. I wasn't sure if he used the same pair of chopsticks for food preparation but I saw him pick on a couple pieces of meat every now and then and finally the whole portion up. If I saw this before my soup was served, I might have walked out. Thank goodness I did not because I really liked my food. I would like to note that all 4 stars are because of my Seafood Tofu Soup and my old fashion tea with aloe. Nothing else.
