Askur, Brasserie - Reykjavik

We have dinner at the Askur Brasserie 2 consecutive nights. I warmly recommend her grilled lamb tenderloin as well as her grilled beef tenderloin, but for me the lamb dish was the better of these two. It was undoubtedly the best prepared lamb I ever had, although I rarely order it due to my first couple experiences with lamb. Lamb is so prominent on Icelandic menus that I knew I would try it while in Iceland on this trip. The mushroom soup was absolutely delicious, creamy and smooth with a good amount of mushroom. A single bowl cannot be enough. The bread with the Soup Salad Bar was also delicious. Service was friendly and appropriate.

Here twice on my trip! Very good food and the salad bar is a plus. This place can definitely fill especially weekend evenings, but the staff is attentive and make sure you get everything you need.

Very good salad buffet (also with pasta, cheese, tuna, bread, pesto, humus, two soups) and with any major main course included. With smaller main places you pay something extra for the buffet. Our salmon was excellent, the seafood Gratin a little too much cheese and fat sauce, very heavy. Finally a Cappuccino double shot, very good and with Latte art! Five stars still because of the good price with the buffet and the great variety (also from other plates).

Staying at the Hilton Nordica so this was nearby. Great, friendly service. Tons of food choices. Portions are large. Soup and salad bar with the meal. We got dessert to go and brought it back to the hotel. Seafood augratin very good. Huge piece of 7 layer chocolate cake. For 2 people, less than $80. Highly recommend!
