Philippines’ No. 1 Japanese Restaurant TOKYO TOKYO Launches New Lifestyle Store Concept New Menu Items. For over 30 years now, Tokyo Tokyo has been a household name in the Philippines for quality Japanese meals at affordable prices. My heart (and tummy) beats for Japanese food. I fondly remember growing up having Tokyo Tokyo as my family’s go-to-place during Sunday lunch outs. Sure, there may be a thousand new Japanese restaurants that have sprouted around. But nothing beats the original, right?
This branch of Tokyo Tokyo underwent major renovation for months. Just a couple of weeks ago, they unveiled their first ever lifestyle restaurant to the public here. Tokyo Tokyo believes that part of a memorable dining experience is aesthetics and they showed it through a unique ambiance that includes 6 different sections. Expect a feel of Tokyo, it's like you have been transported to another city. This 375 square meter location combines Japanese essence and futuristic designs with a Filipino touch. There are inspirations from Fusama screens, pop-neo-anime culture and street food concepts from Japan. Everything is very much instagramable! The new look and feel were conceptualized and meticulously brought to life by renowned and multi-awarded Architect and Interior Designer, James JJ Acuna of JJ Acuna Bespoke Studio. “This new concept can be seen as a next-generation version of Tokyo Tokyo. It perfectly represents the modernization of the brand, while still honoring its Japanese inspirations in a big way,” shared Acuna. On top of this radical change, there are also restaurant worthy additions. This branch serves dishes not yet available in other branches. One of the most interesting creations is the Dragon Maki. It is our favorite tempura wrapped in a sushi roll! To make it tastier, it has a trio of cheese, Japanese Mayo, and unagi sauce. Another worth having is Crazy Kani Maki. This one boasts of a medley of Kani and classic, sweet California Maki. Don't forget to dip these two in loads of wasabi and soy sauce. If you feel like having something light yet savory, I suggest having their Chicken Teriyaki Salad. It is a meal of healthy greens in deliciously roasted sesame dressing paired with tasty lean chicken strips. It also has shredded carrots and radish, corn and nitamago egg. For a filling and satisfying stop, this branch will push you to have two of Tokyo Tokyo's latest offerings. They have the tender and tasty Wagyu Cubes and the Black Garlic Ramen here as well. The latter boasts of one of a kind ramen that is both garlicky and rich in tonkutsu broth. I say it’s a bowl that can rival imported ramen brands. Usually, Japanese cuisine lacks a sweet touch. In this location, you don’t need to worry about dessert at all. They have three varieties of Waffle Bowl Sundaes- Triple Caramel (with popcorn), Strawberry Mango and Turtle Sundae. Finally, in celebration of another milestone in Tokyo Tokyo, they have a Facebook and Instagram campaign. A Shot To Tokyo gives you a chance to travel to Tokyo with a companion by simply posting anything Tokyo Tokyo from now till October 30, 2018.
I love their renovated interior. The dining experience is definitely an upgrade from before. Affordable food and Instagrammable (simple) vibes #TeamRamen
Dined here for the first time with my boyfriend. I particularly like the layout of the place. It gives one a somewhat Japanese feel with its elevated and partitioned dining area. The servers are also polite and attentive. As for the food, we ordered the sumo meal for two; prawn and veggie tempura honey chicken teriyaki. For a very cheap price of 400PHP, the food was appetizing and delicious, and plentiful.
