Pedro's House Of Lamb - Queenstown

A must when you are in New Zealand! Very generous portions. Don't need to get any extra sides even though they do offer it. It's a takeaway place. Def one of my favorite meals on the South Island. Don't miss it!

THIS IS NOT A SIT-DOWN RESTAURANT, even though it appears on Yelp when you search for Restaurants. That being said, the food is delicious and plentiful. We were in Queensland for two nights, and were looking for a place where locals would eat, rather than a place that catered to tourists. Yelp directed us here. Since the reviews were so positive, we walked from the busy center of town to this place. It is definitely worth our effort to get there, but we were surprised that it is primarily a take-out and delivery establishment.

The lamb and potatoes were amazing. This is a place that does just 1 thing but, done perfectly. Very limited seating outside. We enjoyed our meal back at the house. If you want a proper lamb roasted dinner, this is the place.

Pedro's House of Lamb is a rather unique experience. It serves one thing lamb. We had read about it and had to try it during our trip to Queenstown. The idea of a whole lamb shoulder cooked slowly until tender for 4 5 hours, seasoned with garlic and rosemary, was enticing just like we make it at home. One evening, we walked from our hotel along Lake Esplanade through town and out Gorge Road to Pedro's. Behind its plain exterior is a busy take away only operation. We picked up a pan of lamb accompanied by scallop potatoes, and walked back to our hotel enveloped by wonderful aromas. Along the way, we stopped at a supermarket and picked up a nice New Zealand red wine to go with our dinner. Back in our room, we positioned the table to look out over Lake Wakatipu as we enjoyed our abundant and delicious lamb dinner.

We were informed not to leave New Zealand without trying some lamb. I checked online and this restaurant kept popping up with great reviews. It's a bit away from the tourist perimeter but still walking distance if needed. The menu has one option and that is a huge piece of delicious and well seasoned lamb with potatoes. I ate this lamb meal for dinner and lunch the next day after sharing some with my friend. The meal can definitely feed 2 to 3 people. I wasnt prepared for the amount of food or the price which are both worth it because it's very tasty and hearty. You have the choice to purchase additional sides like a salad, bread etc.. The staff were really cool and friendly. There was a small line when we arrived but it moved quickly. Definitely a place to check out for your lamb fix.
