I had small expectations at this place and it really broke my head! easy to eat, but full of taste! I had. the arepa de mais as starter followed by the lorna saltado. to test the gloomy in a cup, but rly did nothing for me. I can only suggest changing the desert or having more whispering options:
Eat was good, but I won't say delicious. portions were on the small side when eating was plated on one side of the plate, as the other side had a little sauce. the service was attentive and moderately fast. I have to say, however, that I am tired, after my visit to some of these small restaurants, which do not have a good ventilation system and have an open concept kitchen, to wash my clothes. the place smells like fried food and was quite hot.
We used the montréal à table event to try this restaurant. if it had not been for the saltiness of the dishes, everything would have been perfect. the Crème Mousseline light taste was heavenly. the osso bucco portion taste was perfect as...was the panna cotta. service was great!
Everything we ate was fabulous! the chief/owner was there, which added a very nice note, they were very friendly. this is an excellent byob restaurant!
After reading rave reviews we made a reservation, hopped into a cab, and made the 25 minute trek from downtown to dine here. We won't be back. GOOD: 1. Service was pleasant. 2. Decor is nice. 3. BYOW. BAD: 1. Only 1 server. The place...was packed. Pleasant, albeit frazzled, service didn't make up for the fact that we weren't properly taken care of. We had to flag our server down as she ran past the table at least ten times. 2. Bland, tasteless food. I've been to Lima, Peru and had one amazing meal after another. This wasn't that. Not even a liberal amount of salt (which we had to beg for) couldn't save the food. 3. Tiny portions, which perhaps wasn't so bad because the food was tasteless, but this isn't a trendy, high rent, downtown restaurant. At these prices, in a restaurant that's 25 minutes from downtown, you shouldn't get a half empty plate. We were so hungry when we left that we had to go elsewhere to grab a bite. Ended up at Pullman. Had a delicious shrimp appetizer and a cheese plate. Delicious!
