The Palm - Pottsville

Staff are incredible and so so friendly, we visited for the weekend and they were accomodating for everything we needed. Food and drinks were great too.

From the Gold Coast, QLD my fiancée and I headed over the border to check out the cafe scene at Pottsville, as per a recommendation. The CBD seemed to have a choice of three or four cafes. We chose The Palm because it looked like a place you’d get really good coffee, although by the signage it seems to be a bustling lunch and dinner joint as well. There was outdoor sitting at the front and rear of the cafe, as well as a few tables inside. The back area was in the sun, so we sat at the front, under shade, in the comfy chairs. There was a sign inside that said “Coffee only today” and from what I gathered from the locals poking their head in, the chef called in sick. There was only one, friendly, person working and it took awhile for us to get our coffees. Milkshakes seemed to be a theme they day and they take a little longer to make than a coffee, especially with one person running the show. Our coffee was satisfactory but a little on the weak side. Originally from Canada I enjoy a weak coffee, but my fiancée wanted a little more kick. We’re eager to give Pottsville another go in the near future. We probably won’t jump at heading back to The Palm, although I think they deserve another chance. There is a lot of potential. Tip: There is only one restroom for the entire building, including another cafe, I believe. It’s out the back between the two buildings. Wonderfully food, reasonable prices, fantastic staff and owner. GREAT to find a cafe/restaurant that is open all day. Licenced and friendly atmosphere. Will be visiting more often.

Such great service and yummy food! They made such an amazing vegan breakky wrap (no egg, no cheese, added avo and mushroom . I accidentally spilt my coffee all over me and they offered to make me a new one so sweet!! 10/10 recommend this place :

Two stars because the food was good. Bad rating because the staff are inept and rude.I understand mistakes happen and orders can be messed up quite easily especially while busy but we were the only people in there it was surprisingly quiet and they managed to make a small drink when we paid for a large and put added extras on the burrito which I was asked for and said no to as I'm allergic to them.After realising the order was completely wrong we went back to fix it and the staff were rude and had a bad attitude as if it were our fault. They were reluctant to make a larger drink.When they did make the larger drink they put normal milk in it instead of almond milk, my partner who is lactose intolerant then couldn't drink it.Overall very poor experience.Food was very tasty after the bad experience but it is very expensive for what you get.
