We enjoyed a dinner at Panda visiting Porto even if we hadn’t booked in advance. The staff was able to find us a table. The food was very good with a reasonable price despite being in a tourist part of the city.
We wandered into Panda after an unsuccessful attempt to get into another nearby restaurant without a reservation. What a great surprise! Excellent food, equally excellent service. A great meal all around. While we've found much of the food in Portugal to be flavor-lite, these dishes were vibrant and interesting, thoughtfully plated, and served/timed really well. Highly recommend!
We went twice to Panda, both times really good. We arrived in central Porto on a wet November Sunday evening, and went in search of a close restaurant. Although it was already fully booked, the owner found us a table downstairs at the bar very handy! We had cocktails, and asked for a bottle of dry white wine apparently not a common request! However the barman found us a fabulous local, Quinta Vale do Bragão, absolutely delicious. The food was excellent, we had a selection of tapas dishes, although at the time we were expecting Spanish style, small dishes and the Portuguese do it quite differently. The waiter explained that 'tapas ' really just means for sharing, so the portions are big! 2/3 dishes are plenty. We ate spicy squid and prawns, and the tuna tartar was divine! The house special ribs are awesome, pretty much everyone in the restaurant had them. On our second visit out last evening in Porto we had booked, so we sat in the main restaurant which was again full. The meal as good as the first time, and we had the same wine! We found the service excellent, maybe the owner has noted some of the reviews on this site, although we were inside the main restaurant. Can 't recommend highly enough...
Great food (I can't remember what it was called but the waitress recommended a shrimp dish that was delicious), great service, and very reasonably priced. we enjoyed ourselves on the patio area taking in a very bustling part of Porto, but the decor inside was impressive, and seemed to be what most people wanted (queues formed around 10 o'clock or so, which probably means booking ahead would be advised). We had intended to go on a bit of a pub crawl, but because of the nice atmosphere, we ended up staying here for most of the night.
